Hello, I'm Alex Yi, founder of WELL BEST.

If you're reading this, you likely manage, oversee, or worry about a plastic parts supply chain in China. Perhaps you're a founder anxious about launch delays, a procurement director puzzled by cost overruns and quality swings, or an engineer frustrated by the gap between design and delivered part.

We may not have met, but I believe I understand your challenges intimately. For twenty-five years, I was on the front lines of those very issues—not as a distant consultant, but as the person called in to solve them.

My career began in 2000 in Shenzhen, selling engineering plastics like Bayer's (now Covestro) TPU. My role quickly evolved from sales to hands-on technical support. I was the one in the factory, troubleshooting why a part cracked, a color was off, or why pilot production succeeded while full-scale runs failed.

For a quarter of a century, my core job was problem-solving. I became a specialist in defusing "landmines": material issues, tooling failures, production defects, compliance gaps, and delivery delays.

But solving countless individual problems led me to a crucial insight: Why were the same types of landmines constantly being laid? I realized each specific issue was merely a symptom of a systemic gap.

There is a structural void between an international brand's specifications and goals and the complex reality of manufacturing execution in China. Each supplier—material, mold, factory—is an expert in their slice, focused on their own order. But who ensures seamless integration? Who acts as the brand's local eyes, ears, and risk radar to verify, coordinate, and warn?

No one was filling that role. Brands were navigating partially blind.

This realization was the genesis of WELL BEST. We decided not to sell a single gram of plastic. Instead, we dedicated ourselves to one mission: to serve as your Chief Plastic Officer (CPO) in China. We provide the independent, local expertise to bring clarity, control, and order to your supply chain.

This article series is the distillation of my 25-year journey. Through real stories, I will share:

  • Where the most common—and costly—hidden "landmines" are buried.

  • The root causes behind chronic supply chain issues.

  • How the CPO model provides a systematic framework for prevention, oversight, and smooth operation.

If our stories resonate with you, then this series is for you. Let's begin.

What This Means for You

This series isn't theory—it's lived experience. In the chapters ahead, you'll see how a "stall‑keeper's mindset"—the daily habit of checking, verifying, and caring about details—can transform a fragile supply chain into a resilient one. And if you ever find yourself wishing you had someone on the ground who could ask the right questions at the right time, you'll know exactly where to turn.

If you'd like to learn more about how we work, explore our Supplier Capability Audit or Material Verification services—they're the practical expression of everything this series stands for.
